Valentines Idea: The LOVE Smoothie

Not only are strawberries a nutritional powerhouse of Vitamin C, they're hailed as the fruit of love. Considered an aphrodisiac by the ancient romans, strawberries were used to get the love juices flowing and alleviate common ills such as inflammation, fever, diseases of the blood, sunburn and even bad breath. This heart-shaped fruit is the known symbol of Venus, the goddess of love, which is why you can often find strawberries dipped in chocolate or bathed in champagne.

As the fruit of temptation and seduction, strawberries are the main ingredient in my Love Smoothie and are an excellent source of Vitamins C & A. Strawberries are also naturally high in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and manganese.

However, what takes this smoothie over the top nutritionally are the pomegranates. Pomegranates are a powerhouse of nourishment in their own right. One juicy pomegranate overflows with Vitamins C, K, and Folate, as well as calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, copper and selenium.

Need a date this Valentines Day? How about two or three? Dates provide the perfect level of sweetness in this seductive mix. Once blended, you've got a nourishing and sexy little smoothie that's sure to start your Valentines day off on a romantic and highly nutritious note.

The ingredients in the The Love Smoothie are  perfectly combined to digest, absorb and assimilate efficiently and should be sipped on an empty stomach for the highest nutritional benefit. In a high speed blender add:

  • 1/2 package fresh or frozen organic strawberries
  • 2-3 organic dates
  • 1/2  large pomegranate
  • 2 cups organic coconut water or unsweetened almond milk.

Blend, serve, and keep the love comin' - it's healthy!
